As "krs" pointed out, it depends on how many posts per page you have set. But the forums are running a bit slow tonight, however, that could possibly be on my end only.

But to answer your question Jake, there are no missing posts that I'm aware of and I don't believe our software is about to crash. (fingers crossed)

As I post this, it should show as post #44, and as I have 20 posts/page = page 3. What is shown is Page 3 of 4 in non-bold blue - followed by 3 in bold black

However, a "page 4 > Last" are shown as apparently available in non-bold blue; but don't actually exist. I think that's what Jake is referring to?

As soon as I typed the above, the system reverted to what it should be - Page 3 of 3 with 3 in bold. Correct.

Strange but not sleep-disturbing!:)

OH! It gets better. After my post #44, my very next one is shown as post #63 - but the page structure is maintained.

I have had a further thought. To many of our long-standing members, it must have been noticeable that posts from a certain individual have been completely removed from several threads. No need to say more publicly as this must be known to the Admins and Moderators.

Removing such posts may have upset the page structure. This seems logical to me in that if a thread had, say, 45 posts and thirteen of them were removed, the number structure might rearrange itself but the pages might still be shown even though empty?

Just an idea.

Ian

PS Doesn't explain why my above posts went from 44 to 63 though.

There is something wonky about this thread. It shows that it has an unread post, and that there are 4 pages, but when you select page 4, it cycles back to page 3 and there are no unread posts at all. I'm posting this to see if it posts and if it does, where it goes.

EDIT: It got added to the bottom of page 3, with Page 4 still showing. Strange behavior.

Is the site about to crash again?

I priced that too, it stays in the “New Posts” section, even though I have viewed it multiple times. I believe one member was replying, but had an issue when “committing” their reply.

Hmmm...??? Strange here Ian, as I see your post I've quoted above as post #46 and only two posts below it making the last one as I post here as #48.

Yes, a certain number of a particular poster's posts were certainly removed but hardly noticeable at my viewing end and everything seems to be in order.

You are correct, Patrick; but at the time, that's exactly what happened: #44, #63, #64. Within an hour or two, stability was re-established, not only in numerical order, but the "empty" pages were gone. As thus was happening on several threads and others commented on this too, the Admins/Mods must have done a lot of work.
