Hello All, I resently ran Disk Verify, Registry Verify, and then Registry Repair to fix the registry errors that were in evidence, on my iMac with Mountain Lion. After the Repair was complete, I ran Verify again, and a slew of registry errors reappeared. Has anyone had this issue? If so, how do I repair it? and finally, after 3 years virus free, has my Mac gotten sick?

There is no such animal as a registry in OS X.

There is a repair permissions and a Verify / Repair Disk.

If you are getting a bunch of stuff not repaired during Repair Permissions - ignore them - there are a whole slew of things that it will not repair.

(Edit - list of permissions errors you can safely ignore - link)

If you are running the verify/repair Disk and it is continually returning errors &/or has items it cannot repair, your hard drive could be on it's last legs and you should post those errors here to let us have a look.

Thanks, will do as soon as I get back to that computer. My mistake on the registry error, it was permissions. I will copy and paste soonest.

If it's permissions errors - just ignore them all. No reason to paste those here.

See the link I added above - there is a whole long list of them.

What causes what? All the different permissions?

Permissions are changed every time you do a software update from Apple - firmware updates, software updates, OS X updates - and don't ask me why, but Apple doesn't update the file it uses to repair permissions yet somehow it knows not to change them back to what they once were. Haven't understood this mentality since my first Mac.

They've got a whole list of stuff for you to ignore, why can't they just update the Repair Permissions file - it's beyond my grasp.
