I want to record just the audio from recorded DVR tv shows, talk, into my Mac. How can I cable up for that?

What are you using as the DVR? That will make a difference in how it's done.

Thanks for that info. That's a good start. I forgot to ask in my earlier post, what Mac do you have? That will tell us what audio inputs we're working with.

If you want to go the thunderbolt route a cable such as this one should work. There are similar cables for USB 2 and USB 3. I haven't used the thunderbolt port for that kind of recording but have used USB. Either protocol should be fast enough for there not to be much/if any latency issues.

If you want a little more flexibility in terms of what you connect, an audio interface is a way to go. Since you expressed an interest in Thunderbolt interfaces, here's a brief review of some options. Best ThunderBolt Audio Interface For Mac?

Audio interfaces, whether USB or Thunderbolt will, of course, cost more than a cable.
