RAM for MB and MBP

I'm deciding between the two 2.4 ghz models and am calculating the costs. Do they use the same kind of RAM? What is the average cost? Does the basic system come with one 2GB chip or two 1 GB chips. I assume its the latter, so i'd buy two 2GB chips and sell the 1GBs somewhere, right?
