Rainbow Beachball during video!

Hi all,

My Macbook Pro is about a year and a half old and has never given me issues...but the last couple weeks I have been noticing that I get the beach ball while watching videos. At first it was watching a tv show online. Then it was youtube and just now I was on ESPN and there was a little ad playing in the corner that made it happen.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? Thanks in advance.

And just for reference I have 4 gb memory...

and when this is going on I check my system usage and it says Firefox is using like 79% of the system. That seems ridiculous!
