Question about accelerators/upgrades on G3 model.

Just made a bulk purchase, haven't even gotten them yet, one of which is a 400Mhz iMac. I'm curious about purchasing a CPU accelerator/upgrade for it. One company I hear a lot about is Sonnet. They list a G3 Harmoni 600Mhz; but it only supports up to 333Mhz models. I can't find anything about upgrading any models above that.

I'm assuming it's not going to be as easy as say buying a 500Mhz G4 and "sticking in in there".

Can someone point me in the right directions? Your help is much appreciated!

Well your upgrade options are definately limited with the 400 Mhz iMacs.
Here is the only way that I know of to upgrade the proc for it...and while it is an improvement, it isn't much of one...it will only take you from a 400Mhz G3 to a 500 Mhz G4:

It just seems like a lot of work for a kinda skimpy upgrade.

I would agree with you. A little pricey and a lot of work/waiting time for that upgrade. I see you have a 400Mhz with 256MB Ram running Panther; how do you think it performs?

Thanks!

Mine runs just fine ...sure I am out of luck for some of the newer G4 only programs (GarageBand, etc) but i haven't had any problems with the overall performance...I will probably just add some more RAM soon to give it a bit of boost that way...Good luck iwth the new iMac, I think you will find it very worth it.
