My spotlight crahes a lot. The the menubar, dock and icons will dissapear and pop back up. Its driving me nuts and every time I go in to the apple store I cant get it to do it in front of them. But it has been in for repair on 4 other issues. Twice for random shutdowns. Once to replace the case that was peeling off. and the last time I tried to do a reinstall it crashed and even the apple guy couldnt figure out how to reinstall the OS it wouldnt let you pick the hard drive as the destination. I called Apple Care & Apple said they can't justify giving me a replacement at this time. I should have hung on to my iBook that thing was like a tank. For the most part I like my MacBook. I just wish they would fix it or replace it. This is my 4th apple and it has given me the most issues.

My MBP works well but not perfectly.

I've had it for ten weeks and I've had five kernel panics ... that's a lot more often than any of my PC's ever crashed. The common theme every time has been that Parallels, MSIE (6 or 7 it happened with both), and Safari were all running.

The most recent panic, which happened earlier today, caused a lot of my menu items to disappear when the computer was re-booted.

Other than that, I've been incredibly happy with it. The panics haven't caused me to lose any significant work (seems like just about every program is automatically saving a backup file and restoring it automatically on start-up) and it's about a two minute process to get everything back up and running.

My Mini and my MacBook Pro both run great. No major problems with either, the only problem with my Mini is that I don't have enough RAM.

I don't have any problems with mine.. Except my G4 froze, and won't show video (hoipefully just a toasted video card that is getting replaced next week).

With my Powerbook.. When I first got it (2nd hand from an Apple-reseller), it had a 30min battery life, boot-time was horrid (5 plus minutes), and the light-ring around the power connector would flicker. Also, the cd-rw/dvd drive wouldn't read all disks.

Took it back, found out the hard drive had bad-sectors and was dying, as was the AC adaptor, and the cd-rw/dvd drive was toast.

They replaced the battery, ac adaptor, hard drive, and cd-rw/dvd drive under warranty for free, now it works amazingly.

What does "wut" mean? :ninja:

Todd G, you are just too funny! Thanks for the laugh!

I haven't had one bit of trouble with my imac (works like a dream), of course I've only had it about 2 months (knock on wood).

ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD IS THAT THE DOCK DISAPPEARS. When this happens I need to manually open the dock or restart. Its a bit of a nuisance but has only happened twice.

So far I've had a couple of teething problems - it's new to me and I guess I am more likely to be the cause of the problems I've had.

However I think my macbook is great and it is very much loved in its' new home.

Now my iPod - that's another matter currently stuck after I tried to reset it - think it's broken.... :(- again the probs are very likely the result of user error - new toys - but I'm still loving it very much.

Ok iPod is now fixed as well - strange - it wouldn't update my pod casts and kept giving me errors error -48(in iTunes) so I did the reset thing - saw the apple and then it said do not disconnect stayed like this for well over an hour. Got sick of waiting so just did the reset thing again - saw the apple and then iTunes recognised it straight away - updated my pod casts and now all is well - like I said earlier - this is very much likely to be user error. :)

except for a sound failure in the first week of purchasing my macbook, i've had ZERO problems. The sound failure was only a very slight problem since all i had to do was go up to the apple store i bought it at, show them the problem, and get a new one.

I've only had one problem... Granted, it's a slightly big problem, but nothing that patience won't solve. :)
