I'm not a big Music user, but the OP says he can't "find" the tracks. Yet, in post #16 jimmyb posted a screenshot that shows that if you highlite a track, then the menu has "Show in Finder" as an option just two spots below where jimmyb had "Copy" selected. If the OP were to click on "Show in Finder" and if Music works at all like iTunes used to work, the resulting Finder window will be of the entire CD tracks as they were ripped. If that is true, then the OP can just select all of the tracks in that Finder window, copy and paste them to the thumb drive into whatever folder he/she may want and that the car can interpret.

Or am I missing something key?

Guys - way back in post #8, I already found where my Music files where on my SSD (apparently not the same folder name for everyone) and dragged a half dozen to an attached USB - so the issue is to find your files made in the Music app. Dave
In my post #16, just copy direct out of the music app!

That makes sense to me though live also do very little with music on my Mac other than playing want already exists or what I have installed there, so maybe neither of us understands the situation completely and maybe some others. 🙄

If Apple has actually changed the procedure the OP wants to do, I wonder if they updated their built-in music Help topics and provided some help that would work for the OP. That would certainly help them if they had done so.

Boy, iTunes was a bloated mess until being broken up about five years ago into multiple apps including Music which remains confusing - just a look at Apple's Music User Guide can make you head spin as to options for changing location of files and folder names.

To identify your Music app's file location, simply open Music Settings > Files - below is shown my LONG path to iTunes Media and within that folder is another called 'Music' which contains the folders of my music stored in the Music library - clicking on any folder eventually shows the individual MP3 (or other codecs) files - which can be dragged onto an externally attached device (shown in a previous post of mine).

Since I migrated my new laptop from one nearly ten years old, the old naming of these folders included iTunes in my case (and also on my wife's iMac, migrated from older iMacs) - other 'users' going to this 'Files' tab may find 'Music' substituted for 'iTunes' - if so just go to the end location and your files should be there searching in Finder. Thanks to all for the suggestions but a new problem has arisen for me. My new iPad crashed and could not be fixed according to an Apple agent. I have to send it to Apple for repair or replacement. I resurrected an old iPad that was in a drawer but it’s capabilities are limited. Thankfully the new iPad was still under warranty so I won’t be charged for the fix/replacement. More frustrations.

You must be at your wits end. I'm so sorry to hear about yet another setback. I guess we can't take things forward until you get the new iPad fixed/replaced - or can we? Do let us know.

The problem wasn’t with the iPad. I was working with my iMac on trying to copy tunes onto a flash drive. The iPad I’m using is a relic according to Apple but it’s serviceable even though it’s slow.

Patrick's suggestion is dated because I couldn't show the tunes in Finder following the steps in the link he attached.
You shouldn't have to do this. You should be able to drag and drop direct from a Music window that displays all of your songs. You say that you can't drag and drop your songs from Music to the Flash Drive.

Can you drag and drop onto your Desktop?

I’m taking some time away from that stuff due to frustration. But your suggestion makes good sense to me. Since I was unable to drag and drop from Music I will try to copy the tunes to the desktop and move them from there. I’ll keep you posted on the results. Thanks for your interest.

You are making this way too hard. I took some screenshots to show how to get to and copy your tracks.

Start by opening Music, select Album view (assuming you have them organized in Albums based on the various CD's. If not, then select "Songs" and do the same steps). Find the album you want. In this image, I have selected the "Civil War" album.
Screenshot 2024-04-06 at 5.53.37 PM.jpg

Now click it to open (it may take a double click, the idea is to get to the tracks of the album). (Note: this step is not needed if you went to "Songs" directly and picked one of the songs you want to copy).
Screenshot 2024-04-06 at 5.54.13 PM.jpg
Now right-click on any track to get a menu list. I picked "Ashoken Farewell"
Screenshot 2024-04-06 at 5.54.50 PM.jpg
Note that the menu has an option to "Show in Finder." Click there and you get a FInder window of where that track is stored, in Finder.
Screenshot 2024-04-06 at 5.55.11 PM.jpg
At this point, in Finder, you can click on "Edit" on the top menu bar, then "Select All" to get all of the tracks highlighted, then "Copy" to copy all of the tracks in that folder and finally go to the Thumb drive in Finder and "Paste" to paste all of the tracks.

I don't know if Drag and drop works, but I do know copy/paste will do what you want.

Back when I was doing this a lot, prior to bluetooth connections to car audio becoming common, apart from having to format the USB drive as Ex Fat for my car stereo I used a little app called MediaHuman Audio Converter. It's free and does a great job of formatting batch Music files to universal MP3 and loading them onto a peripheral USB drive.
It's available from the developers here; Free audio converter for macOS and Windows

If you have a look at the linked pahe above and scroll down you will see Step by Step Instructions the first one being "Transfer iTunes music to USB to listen in a car."

Certainly no shortage of such applications with pages of them listed here and various reviews and some a bit dubious. And most are available from the developer sites for those who don't like downloading directly from back Macupdate:

Thanks. It sounds like a great possibility.

I agree with Patrick, I’d stay well away from Mac-update. On checking I found I still have the app and there is an update for Sonoma.

Just for the record, I have never had any problems with macupdate com nor any of their downloads but find it an excellent source for locating various Mac software or suggestions for similar products, but for those that do, they usually have a link to the developer software product and usually another source for downloading.

I'm sure they're corrupted downloads problem was sorted out several years ago, but they also have an option to use their pollution Checker software for anything one decides to download/

Just saying... I've never experienced any problems with the mapupdate.com download site.

EDIT:
Any user can always do a Google search for the validity or reliability of any Mac download site such as this one:

You have to pay to use it.

If you want to look for a similar software and set up a free filter search, you can do so at macupdate.com behind just selecting the free filter option and you should end up with a page like this one at:

But just a personal note regarding Mac software, and that is, free software is very nice, but some very reasonable priced software can be exceptionally good and well worth considering if not paying for at times. And even if some good software is free, most developers still appreciate a donation for their work, especially if and when it works well. 😀
