Hi,
Just made the transition from Windows to Mac, with my first MacBook Pro, and I am very pleased with it. However, I have one problem, in that I cannot connect to our network drive. I apologise if there have been other threads on this, as having searched it appears it may be due to the new OS X Lion, but unfortunately when I have searched I am yet to come upon a solution.
Anyway, the problem - I have a Freecom network drive plugged into the router. When looking under Network, it sees the drive, called FND, and the folder, Public. However, when I try to get onto this folder, where all the contents of the network drive are to be found, I get the message 'The operation can't be completed because the original item for "PUBLIC" can't be found.'
Does anyone know how to solve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi :) What kind of Mac did you get? It helps with troubleshooting to know the specifications of the system you got.

Also, I'd double check to make sure that everything from Windows copied correctly onto the external drive. Sometimes Windows can create problems.

Post back if you have any further questions.

Hi,
I've got the latest Macbook Pro, the MD313B/A. I'm not transferring everything from the network drive, its just we've got multiple computers in the household and everyone saves everything on the network drive so we can access our media/documents from the network drive. Unfortunately I don't have any other macs, but the Windows computers can get on the network drive fine?
Thanks

Hmm... I hate to say this but with the worst case scenario there may be some compatibility issues with the network drive, as Mac and Windows are so fundamentally different. The Mac appears to see the folder, but accessing it is a different story, so clearly it's just not reading.

I would try calling Applecare, provided you are still under their 90 days call support/purchased Applecare.
