Hi Jake,

Yes I have that file. Im going to install the SSD tomorrow and will post how it goes. I just want to thank you and the other great folks here for all of your help and patience.

I remember going thru this learning curve years ago with photography. I was finally able to help some newbies after a few years and it was a good feeling. Im hoping the same will be true here someday.

take care,

rick

I was able to complete the install of the new SSD and want to thank you all so much for taking the time and sharing your expertise with me. Like I've said, I hope to be able to return the favor some day!

Although Im an old guy I have aspirations of earning a part time income sometime in the future by being able to offer services as they relate to Mac computers, iPhones, iPads etc. I have a long, long way to go but I believe I have the passion and energy to maybe make it happen.

A question for you:

Do you think that as technology moves along with Apple that services such as solid state drive upgrades, RAM upgrades, general repairs etc. will become more difficult to do? Do you think Apple is going to make it more difficult for outside parties to access, upgrade and/or repair/replace components? Do you think there is a future in Apple product repair & consulting?

Again, thank you very much for your help. You folks are great!

talk with you soon,

Rick

Rick -

You might want to start a new thread as you are asking a new question and with your original thread header they may not read far enough to respond.

Rick, I don't know about your technical/hardware/software abilities nor of the Mac computer repair world around your area, but I'd suspect as you are already asking such related questions you're already almost up against a high wall you may not be able to overcome, just from the simple fact that you don't know and are having to ask.

Just to start, how many such already good knowledgable Mac techs are there in your area now, and to become a Qualified Apple Authorized Repair is quite a further challenge and commitment.

But as Lisa says, to get more feedback or answers, you might want to start another thread. And good luck. I've been there but slowed down drastically after some serious hospital surgeries a year or so ago, and turning 75 in ten days. Retirement well earned and now being enjoyed!! ;)

PS: I sure enjoyed being invited by my employer to join him occasionally for a visit at their lovely winter holiday place home in Scottsdale. Very nice, but it sure can be dry and dusty there compared to the Pacific Wet Coast. Oh yes, and HOT!!! Even in March… ;)

Anyway, Good Luck.

Thank you for your input Patrick!

Happy 75th birthday and many more ahead for you!

I will start a new thread and see what everyone thinks. For me, its something Id really like to do either as a part time employee or having my own small business. Ive been in business for 34 years (restaurant) and am anxious to get out as our restaurant is closing this summer (franchise agreement runs out).

We love the Valley of the Sun, but yes, if you don't like dry heat its not the place for you! We are desert rats and have lived in the desert (Sonoran and Mohave) for most of our lives. Its hot in the summer but we don't care for cold weather which is very rare here. Also, there is not much wind which is something else we love!

Anyway, I believe my best shot would be to work for a company or possibly to be an Apple at Home Advisor. The pay isn't important to me. Its doing something that i like for a change! haha

Talk with you soon and many thanks,

Rick
