I have 24" iMac and I downloaded 2 years ago an free software called LameModule version 0.1 specifically to password-protect my folder which is "Cal's Folder.app"

I installed Lion couple weeks ago and love it....Until yesterday when I needed my tax paperwork in that folder and I got a message: "You can't open the application Cal's Folder.app because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

I don't know what to do since that folder has thousands of files with 2.33 GB size!!! I need these files out! :[

Thanks!
Cal

The only way you're going to be able to access that folder is to either move it to a machine that's running Snow Leopard, Leopard, or earlier. Or, create another partition on your hard drive and install Snow Leopard on it. Then boot to SL, get your files from that folder and then remove the partition along with SL.

(PPC applications or applications that use PPC code will not run under Lion.)

In Finder,
(1)Select the file.
(2)Select "Show Contents" in the context menu (control+click).
(3)Select View> "Show Invisible Files".
You will see your files in the ".LameFiles" folder.
Good luck!

That probably will not work since the entire folder is locked and password protected.

Thanks all! I remembered my sister had MacBook with SL and I copied the locked folder into her MB, entered password and moved all files out and into unsecured folder! WHEW!!!!!!

Is there any simple and free password protected folder app out there that works with Lion?

Thanks again!

Too many devices to list
You could always just make an encrypted disk image which would save you the trouble of worrying about compatibility. See more info here.
