Google has not been jy friend. I have been unable to find the way to eliminate the "Other Printer." It doesn't show up in Printers and Scanners in System Settings. It just shows up on my Print Center. This happened when I was trying to properly add a Canon Printer. I got it in, PA Canon MG3620, but then the extraneous printer showed up.

I am guessing that your thread subject is a bit misleading and all your printers listed are actually existing.
I'm also guessing that when you were setting up the Canon printer, which I assume you are referring to as the"Other Printer", you shut one up as either connected via USB or Wireless and you also set up the same printer as a network device which may or may not be showing when you go to print.

How many printer choices do you get when you hit the print command or do you have a printer listed to use as the "Default printer" in your System Preferences.

How many printers do you actually have set up to be used?

And also looks like you may have mistakenly labeled one of your printers.

Your selected printer is working properly for all your printing needs I wouldn't worry about it too much and just carry on.

Just make sure that you actually own the printers that are shown and not some very close neighbor's printer you might have accidentally connected to that didn't have a password Etc... 😉

I had a similar problem with my HP Envy 6020, after installation all was well, then sometime afterwards a second printer with a similar name appeared when printing. So highlighting the one I ddid not want I deleted it.

I tried that but I couldn't delete it. However, I just opened Print Center and it is gone! So now a double quandary, how did it get there and where did it go?

Once you install the printer drivers, macOS is able to search for network printers to detect them through bonjour, so that's like what happened but then the printer was added, so the next scan likely got rid of the "extra" printer since it isn't extra anymore.

Just a possibility that you were a bit faster than your OS and the extra printer that was showing when you first checked was probably just a phantom about the system hadn't got around to purging as Ashwin suggested and when you later checked the OS had done its job and purged Surplus non-existing printers.

Many things on a Mac seem to take a while to change either due to regular OS maintenance or some other method. It's probably best not to worry too much when you discover some Oddity and let the Mac OS do its maintenance stuff the possibly gets helped along with a restarter or two.

Anyway I'm glad your problem is sorted out and fixed. 😉
