Hi,
New here so hello to all Mac nerds.

I have a Canon Pixma MG6250 and it is connected via Netgear router to a 1 month old 27" iMac with 16mb ram 3Tb fusion drive and Yosemite with the update to 10.10.1 etc.

Also to an MSI G60 with an I7 3.8Ghz cpu 8Gb ram running Windows 8.1 and so on. Ok that's the kit.

The software is the latest for the printer for the iMac and the PC in turn. They both print very well...but.

I use MPNavigator 5 which enables scanning and selection of papers, duplex, draft and so on. Great. However, using this from the Mac opens the various windows to select the options but then opens a mac window which says "use std settings otherwise it might not print properly." The PC doesn't do this. The upshot is that I can't print in draft fast mode with the Mac so reducing the amount of ink used, whereas I can, and always could, from the PC.

Has anyone else had this type of problem and you found a fix?

Thanks.

That's not unusual. In my experience, printer drivers for Windows usually have more options than OS X and all around easier to setup and use. Printer manufacturers generally will have Windows drivers available for their printers before having them ready for OS X. When you want to save ink, print from Windows and shop around on the net for refilled ink cartridges for your Canon. I used refilled cartridges for my Canon for years and they worked just as well as the Canon ones.

Thanks for those tips. Appreciated, just seems a shame that the drivers aren't compatible across the board.
