It is annoying that a lot of the forums will not let you upload an attachement like a screen shot.

They required imbedded images or url's.

So is there an easy way to do this without having to use a web site to create a link.

Windows suggest using opening the file in a app and the copying and pasting.

That does not seem to work with Mac Preview.

Comments.

I'm confused. You started talking about forums (which are websites) and then mentioned Windows and finally Preview.

Some websites are particular about the image type they will accept. You can change the screenshot format by opening the screenshot (by default a .png file) in Preview and then use File/Export to save it to whatever format you want or need.

But that may or may not be what you want. As I said, I'm confused.

Some forum's, actually quite a few to not give you the option to upload images, like a screen shot.

They use embedded images to insert images.

It is difficult to attach a desktop image to a post with embedded images.

Is there an easy way to do this. Windows says copy and paste. Does not work with Mac Preview.

Yes, repeating the same question without adding any additional detail will not get you an answer. Just another question asking for clarity.

Not all forums allow for attachments to avoid holding your data. The older forum software required you to upload your image to an image sharing site and then grab the embed link. A lot of those sites are still around and some have migrated to other uses.

Anyway, what forum are you talking about so that we can see for ourselves?

Thanks for that, Ashwin. I wasn't going to point it out, just leave it there as it was.
