My wife had a message from Amazon confirming delivery with barcode etc. on her iPad. When she got to the Post Office to pick it up she couldn't find it on her iPhone. There seem to be lots of problems with how emails are sorted as well.

Not much to go on but in Settings>Apps there is a way to customize Mail. There might be something there to help her with whatever the issue was.

Also, what mail provider does she use, and is it using IMAP or POP? That makes a difference.

But both of those are stabs in the dark. Give us more information to go on like mail provider, phone version, what did she do, how did she search, etc.

POP3 or IMAP - POP3 downloads the mail to the client and automatically deletes them from the server, whereas IMAP leaves the mail on the server, ideal for multiple devices.

Alwyn if you are referring to the current iOS Apple Mail app with its mail sorting option; Primary, Transactions, Updates ect. that can easily be turned of for each or all accounts with the “three little dots” icon top right of the screen. That will return you to the old time ordered list view.

Thanks. Yes I am. I had already tried switching from categories to list view from the 3 dots but it seems to revert to categories. I have also enabled always ask before deleting so hope the problem is resolved.

I try to keep my device specs up to date so I don’t have to detail mobile model or OS version. In this case I should have made clear that by Mail I meant Apple. Mail.

Colin.

Hmm, I'll check if my iPhone does that, it's updating at the moment but here is a good article on the topic; How to Disable Mail Categories on iPhone
In that article it states; "All you need to do is tap the category that's currently displayed, which is shown in blue, green, purple, or red at the top of your list of mail. This will deselect that category and a new "All Mail" category will appear, which contains all of your emails in a single list." That's a different approach which I was unaware of.

PS. Just checked my iOS Mail app and yes, it had reverted to categories view, even just closing (not quitting) the app returns it to categories. Looks like Apple really wants us to use this new "option" which, as already stated, I do so not a problem for me but some users will hate it I'm sure

Open Apple Mail. Look at the bottom left of the screen for the little circle with 3 lines in it. That switch toggles showing only unread mail OR all mail. She may have accidentally touched that.

Good point Sweeeet, it's easy to miss that button and it is easy to tap accidentally.
