I Can't seem to play .avi files that are encoded with wmv3 codec. Almost everything I find on the net says that there is NO way to play these files on my mac.
However, one thing gives me hope. Flip4Mac. It doesn't work for tiger and QT7 yet, it looks like. Will this allow me to play .avi containers that use the wmv3 codec? I'm not sure what it does to be honest. I want to be able to play the avi files in QuickTime. This is the first major problem I have had with the mac and it's kind of dissapointing that I can't play all these files I see on the net. For example, http://www.mcpeepants.com/movies.shtml has videos that I can't watch in QT, VLC, or WMP, and I am pretty sure these are in WMV3 format.
I really hope this is the answer I need. I don't need to author or anything like that, I just want to play the video. If this is the solution I hope they get the new version out soon, I'll gladly pay the $10 to buy it.
