I downloaded some from Apple's QuickTime Components webpage but be careful, read the system requirements and check out what you would be installing first.
Some of those are old and aren't suitable for Tiger, while some others aren't suitable for Intel-based Macs. Others still are shareware or professional type plug-ins.
my question, is whats wrong with vlc...it is in my opinion the best player...i use it for all my video watching and such. but i also have divx and flip4mac on my qt so i can watch wmv when needed.
The upshot of installing the codecs is that it can often times make it possible to organise and play your media from within iTunes. I've added several divx files to my library and now they show up in Front Row...
Theoretically, this should also allow software like iMovie to work with these files.
Sadly, flip4mac does not allow iTunes to import wmv files, even though they play inside of QT.
http://www.divx.com/ (XviD is simply an open-source port of DivX, so installing the DivX codec should allow you to play most of the XviD files)
