Now how in the world was that shot taken? I can't see how the nickel (?) can hold upright...

is that sarcasm? i took it for a physics project, i thought it looked cool.

That's an awesome shot. What's the resolution on it, I'd like it for a wallpaper if thats possible. 1680x1050

well, maybe it's the lighting. looks maybe like a desk lamp brought in sort of close and at an angle from the left.

i'm imagining standing a nickel on a desk in front of me about 8 inches away from meand turned just slightly so the near edge is to my right. then bringing my face just a bit closer and then slightly to the left. the pic is definitely taken from above more than straight on.

Funny, I never tried standing a nickel on its side. I didn't know it could stand like that, that it would be thick enough for this. Thanks for the explanation, eric.

Taken on the Canary Islands. It was so hot and light, i had 1/800 second shutter and f-stop 10 with the lowest ISO level and there was still so much light. I love taking photos in summer ( Well during our winter, but their summer!).

Taken with a nikon D50 at 200mm.

You can see some other photos i took whilst i was there here.

Great photos man!
I love those surfing shots.

No seriously I am so used to paying with my debit card, I hardly ever handle cash anymore, let alone coins...

This is a photo I took in South Carolina with my Canon A95. I now have a new A630 which I am anxious to try.

yeah, nickels are definitely thick enough to stand, as you can see. funny thing is, in no way did i try to make this look cool. i just needed a picture of a shadow for a physics project.

It's only a 1.3MP camera in the phone, so bare with the cr@ppy quality.
