Hey guys

I'm new here so Hi!

I just bought myself a Canon 350 DSLR.... I've never really taken photos before and having had 4 days now I've been out taking hundreds of shots and trying to learn lots about it.

The first photo I took with it though is this one... and I thought it was pretty. My technique isn't up to much yet, I know... but its spring and the area I live in is starting to look so nice with tonnes of these about :)

Anyway... I'll look forward to learning lots from here, some of the photos in this thread are beautiful!

Seagull

I have always been into photography but recently bought a real camera and started to read up on it as well... this shot was taken with a digital SLR Nikon D80, Winston-Salem (I was driving down 40 and snapped it on the go actually, you can see it's not as focused as I wished it to be), NC edited with Photoshop Elements.

Tulip, and the boat scene are my favorites so far! Great pictures!

I love the affect of this photo with black background.

Wow! Bright yellow flower and the dark background makes a very dramatic photo. Good job. It helps us, if you could explain with each photo, what settings you used to take the photo.

Thanks! I kinda liked this one too... but you're right, the darker background is much more effective :)

As for the settings, I'm sorry I really don't know... will make sure pay mroe attention next time. I had literally just unpacked the camera, charged the battery and had a quick fiddle with the settings before I pointed it at that daffodil and clicked....

There may be a feature in your camera when you go to review your shots, you may be able to click on a menu where it shows information about each photo

If you have the shot in iPhoto and your camera uses standard EXIF data then you can get the information by ctrl clicking on the photo and going to the Show Info button

Sooper Fast!
I'll start with this one.

I was shooting an angel statue at a cemetery less than a mile from my place and applied a lomo action created by one of the photographers on the Canon Digital Photography Forums. I like the way it turned out. It looks amazing printed out as a 8x12.

Nice shot man... you know, it's amazing you don't have to go to far off lands (although it's nice to) to find great shots... Hey. How did you insert the picture instead of attaching it? Just curious, new to the forums

I have it hosted at www.flickr.com

Just grab the photo's URL and when posting, click on the little yellow button with the mountain and the little square in the upper right hand corner. A window should appear asking for the URL and just paste it in there. It should put the image url with the (img)(/img) tags around it, substituting the ('s with ['s.

Uploading...

Dude, click the advanced tab (in the reply to thread)... Click the option listed as "manage attachments" and then browse to wherever you have your picture stored. Once you locate it, click upload... then submit your thread.
