I just read the article you linked on your first line. That clears up a lot of things about sparse files and clones I had no real idea about and more.
I gave Hyperspace a run on my Home folder, only 236MB can be saved so, not too concerned about that.
Always more to learn, thanks for sharing your knowledge and your patience.
I also read "Copy, move and clone files in APFS, a primer" linked on the same article. Wow! This is a case of "the more you know the more you know you don't know."
I am not disheartened by that, rather I'm pleased that there is always more to discover.
