Hi everone
this morning i discovered some thing strange i am running OS X 10.10.2 (14C1510) on my Mac Book Pro 17.
I have activated the password as soon as my MBP is in sleep mode , now , by accident , i i pressed to power bottom instead of the password because i had the intention to switch of my MBP from the password screen , guess what screen turned black , then i pressed again and i have been on my home screen, with out using my password, i have now tried this 3 times and it works all the time

Your post was a little confusing/hard to read...hopefully I got all the details right. But if you are using the same password that has always worked before. Maybe try shutting the computer down...and then rebooting.

If this doesnt work...try an SMC Reset:

If this doesn't work. Maybe somehow with all this accidential button pressing the password accidentially got altered.

I have tried to repeat this with no success. Let me see if I have got it right.
Your laptop was in Sleep mode, normally if you wake it you must enter the password, same as mine.
But this time you pressed the power button instead. Then the screen went black so you pressed the power button again and this returned you to your home screen but without entering the system admin password. Is that all correct?

There is nothing unusual here - Rod is on point - I have mine set to require my password after 1 minute.
