Hi all:
This is a recent problem that has occurred in the last few days. I'm not sure when Parallels will get back to me, so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else has had this problem, and maybe get a quicker response.
I have a usb footpedal that I use for some work in operating audio files for some transcription work that i do -- It's called for the record/record player. The footpedal is better than using the keys to stop/start/ff/rw.
Well, in the last couple of days the footpedal isn't being recognized by Parallels (running windows 7 on el Capitan). Usually when I plug in a usb device it sees the device and asks whether I want to connect it to Mac or Parallels. In the devices menu of the VM there's a list of all the devices it sees, and I can check it to choose it, as I do with the footpedal, and all is well.
Well, a couple of days ago, when I checked the footpedal, it would disappear from the list and I wouldn't be able to use it -- sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in to the usb hub for it to be seen in the menu, at which time it's checked, and I can use it. Sometimes it doesn't recognize it at all, like this morning, when I restarted it a couple of times. I can operate the player with key combinations, but I don't want to do that as my first choice. In any event, when it is in the devices menu I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work, which I didn't have to do before. As well, sometimes when I plug in a usb drive it won't be seen either -- either that or it will be in the devices menu, but when I choose it I sometimes get a message saying that it can't be connected; but again this isn't always happening.
So has anyone else come across this problem, and if so, do you have any suggestions on what's happening? I thought it might be the usb hub, but not sure. When I tried plugging in the footpedal to the usb port on the mac i got the some problem. But the usb ports work with other devices, so I don't think it's the mac. Not sure how to trouble shoot this. I'm thinking it's either parallels and something has gone wrong, or the pedal itself. But it works fine when its connection is seen.
Is there any way to 'reset' Parallels to possible take care of any kind of corruption that has taken place with it? I'd rather not just start swapping out devices and spend money unnecessarily. I'm running parallels 10 as well. Not sure if that's the problem either, because I haven't had any issues before; things ran fine.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
