I need to buy a new battery since Apple won't replace it even though it's less than a year old, but I saw that OWC sells a NuPower battery for $100. Are these NuPowers good? Also, I was going to take my broken Superdrive out and put another hard drive in there. Does OWC sell the connections for such a thing? I have the 2008 MBP, thanks

The folks at OWC are Mac specialists and only sell the best in replacement parts, hard drives, SSDs, and memory. I would not hesitate buying a battery from them or for that matter anything else.

As for individual parts, you may be better off trying iFixit: The free repair manual rather than OWC.

Too many...
How can you have a 2008 model year MBP, while being in the year 2011, and it still being less than a year old? Is 2008 a typo? I've heard of multiple scenarios where Apple denied future warranty because the users used an off-brand battery. So, for that reason, even though I truly believe OWC is one of the best out there, I would stick with an original battery. Doesn't mean you have to buy it from Apple though!

Am guessing it's the battery that's less than a year old.

I just put one of the NuPower batteries in my MBP at the beginning of the year. Fit/finish is good. It's giving me a little longer up time to start out with than the 2 Apple batteries I've gone through did.

They just went back to the drawing board on these batteries last year. I waited 4 months to get mine - but they did give me another $25 off. It took 'em 3 months longer to get them done right than they originally anticipated.

Yea the battery i currently have was replaced last April so i thought they would have given me a 1 year warranty on the part itself, but i guess not. If I buy the battery from OWC, I would like to get that hard drive thing from them too, do you guys know if they sell something like this: MCE OptiBay Hard Drive for (non-Unibody) MacBook/MacBook Pro 15-inch: MCE Technologies Online Store. I'll have to check put iFixit for parts, I didn't know they sold that stuff, i thought it was all tutorials.

OWC does carry those kits and call them data doublers, don't think they have one for any of the pre-unibody models. You can always call OWC to check also.

Yea I just did a live chat, they don't have them for my model. Now I went to ifixit, and they have the enclosure, but none of the SATA connections, it's basically just a piece of aluminum shaped for the drive. So this is what i'm thik ing of getting, though i wish i could get them for cheaper:

MCE Optibay

and

MCE battery
or
NuPower battery

Which battery should i get? The NuPower is 58 watt hours and the MCE is 60 watt hours but is $20 more.
