out of country tips for iPhone

Im going to mexico and was wondering if anyone had any tips so that my bill wouldnt be sky high when I got back and any other tid bits for traveling with Iphone.

Don't use it at all. Get Skype instead. Just buy say, 10 bucks worth before you go, use Skype whenever you need to call someone, and then you won't have ANY price increase on your phone bill when you get back, and you can use the minutes you haven't already spent the next time you leave the country (or want to call someone who lives in another country).

Make sure you turn off data roaming. Otherwise you will be charged everytime you phone checks for email and such...

Anyhow thanks to the rest who were actually helpful I just got my iphone and didnt even know about the data roaming cost I would incur
