I uninstalled a program due to problems with it and then have just reinstalled it but the machine already knew it had been installed as I didnt have to go through the serial page.

If I was not to install the program again after uninstalling it how would I ensure the serial wasn't still saved on the machine?

Hard to say as an answer would require more knowledge of how and where the program installs components of itself. What program are we talking about?

Using a program like AppZapper might work in clearing everything out.

If I am not mistaken, the gentleman above you knows of a free alternative to AppZapper, its name escapes me...

AppDelete is similar, and free. But, some programs use installation routines - and those programs will not be completely uninstalled with a program like AppZapper. That's why I was trying to figure out what program he's talking about.

Well I have MS Office Student Edition and Adobe Photoshop for starters and I'd like to know that if I was selling my machine, that no-one was able to find my serials on my machine. But at the moment, the application that's causing problems is Final Cut Studio 5.

My friends bought a second hand Macbook Pro and is trying to install Final Cut Studio 5 with his own serial, but the laptop wasn't formatted and the bloke who had it before must have had it on his machine and uninstalled it before selling it, but we're unable to input his serial as it's by passing the screen.

I've downloaded AppDelete and just put it on his laptop but because the app isn't in the Applications folder the program can't do much.

Any help appreciated.

If you were to sell your machine, I would suggest wiping the machine clean and doing a fresh install rather than manually removing programs.

I would also do a fresh install after buying a used machine. Don't know what kinda crap they had on there. Don't want the FBI knockin on your door because the child pornography that was left hidden somewhere on your machine.
