OSX 10.6 -- Recently downloaded applications will not open

I am trying to install I-getter and UnrarX but after installing the applications they wont open. I tried fixing the disc permissions and it still wont work. Can anyone help.

Late 2013 rMBP, i7, 750m gpu, OSX versions 10.9.3, 10.10
What happens when you try to run the software? Does it even appear on the dock? Are you on 10.6 or a different version of OSX?
