I have to reinstall the system software as Quicktime is paying up.
Thing is, if I restart holding down 'r' [whilst online], I want to stay with Mavericks rather than have to go onto the next level of OS [Yosemite].

Do you know if this option presents itself at startup? I think it just say something like 'restore OS'...

Thank you

If you previously downloaded Mavericks from the Mac App store, it may be available to you to download again. You can check by going to the App store and clicking on your purchases. If you see Mavericks in your purchases, then you can reinstall it.

Thank you chacag fromTexas.
Well - funnily, it's not listed there in my purchases - even though I upgraded to mavericks about a year ago. I also did system restores twice before Yosemite was released, and that worked ok.

If I do try to do this, do you think I'll be stuck with no OS at all?
