I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro and I'm looking to replace the optical drive with an 1TB HDD or SSD (if I can afford it) and upgrade my RAM to 16Gb. I've replaced RAM and HDD's on my other old Macbook and I've seen a few videos on how to open my Macbook Pro which has the unibody design, so I'm fairly confident that I won't screw up an install.

I'm just having trouble figuring out what brand/type of HHD/SSD I'll actually be able to use in my Macbook.

Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated. My comp specs are below.

Thanks in advance.

Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2

Any 2.5" HDD or SSD should work they have standard positioning of the connections so just slip in.

The only thing you may have to watch is skinny SSDs. See if a cradle is needed.
