on a windows network cannot see anything

hello -- i am wondering if i am going about this all wrong. but when i vpn to my companies network, i would expect to open up the Finder and find all the usual stuff I would see in a Windows Explorer. is this correct or am i missing something here?

thx in advance for the help and enlightenment
