To veer back toward the topic at hand.

I dont shut down my laptop. I let it run overnight no problem, and it works just as well. I close the lid to put it to sleep, and thats it, I had a pc laptop that would crash in the morning if i left it running overnight, but my powerbook has NEVER had a problem waking up after being put to sleep overnight. It gets restarted about once a week. but i have had up to 20 days of uptime before (before the 10.2.6 patch).

hehe what is the wear and tear on the machine for leaving it on?

i know i got my iBook 600 right when they upgraded from 500 to 600mhz like 2 years ago....since then i havent shut it down unless for updates and if i need to switch batteries....but since ive gotten to college i havent shut it down....it ran all summer long as well...my uptime is probably well over 100 days by now, i just put it to sleep when i need to bring it somewhere....

also, im conserned about my G5...i just got a g5, and i dont turn that one off either....both computers are always on....does this have any longterm effects on the computer?
