Control-Shift-Command-3 takes a ScreenShot the WINDOWS way and saves it to the Copy buffer just like Windows does. No picture appears on the desktop. You open an editor and paste it in like opening Paint in Windows.

Hope that helps.

Png's

When I use APP Shift 4 it saves the shot as a png to my desktop. What are these, are they any easier to transmit than jpegs.

Using Cmd + Shft + 4, then Spacebar is one of my favorites! I use it for almost every pic I take. :)

Way... way too many specs to list.
I think I missed it in this thread, if you do a ctrl-cmd-shift instead of just a cmd-shift it dumps the screenshot to the clipboard.

Hi. Need help

How can I change the destination where the screenshots are being saved form the Desktop to a folder on the Desktop? I don want to make screenshots and then drag them, I want them to be directly saved to a specific folder..

I've just found this:

You can change the destination for they keyboard activated "screenshots" (eg. ⇧⌘3) by opening "/Applications" > "Utilities" > "Terminal.app" and entering the command below. Everything is case sensitive:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Full/path/to/Folder
;)

edit: but it doesn't work for me.

Great... Long time Mac user, I've just always used the "Grab" utility. I love the crosshair solution. Thanksx

I discovered this awhile ago after downloading a few different screen capture programs. It is simple and works. No need for fancy stuff.

Nice... but I got the entire screen and I usually only want a small portion, so I like the command/shift/4 option better.:)

Forgive me this is my second day on a Mac ... So Command+Shift+4 then hit the spacebar to get a camera, move the camera over the window (or whatever) and click the mouse button. Did that. But where did the picture go.

I can't locate it. I closed everything that was open on the desktop, sort of expecting it to be there, but it wasn't.

I used Finder to open Pictures and documents but it wasn't in either of those.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
