Howdy all, you won't see my smiling mug around here for a week starting tomorrow. I am off to St. Lucia in the sunny Caribbean for a spring break vacation with my kids. We have a timeshare there at the awesome Windjammer Landing Beach resort (www.windjammer-landing.com).

This is my second Caribbean adventure in two months, but it is also the last scheduled vacation currently on the books for 2007 - I have front end loaded my vacation this year, that is for sure!

Anyway, have a great time this coming week!

Gah...

I almost shot a wedding there, but for some reason St. Lucia has an "inside economy" only policy on stuff like that...so they had to hire a videographer on the island.

Have fun!

Thanks all, I am planning on having a great time. I will post pictures afterwards. I am ALMOST done with the pictures from my last vacation - I sort through them all, process them through Photoshop to fix any obvious issues and reduce them to a reasonable size, and then I can post some of 'em. Soon, very soon! ...of course with a whole whack of new ones from St. Lucia, I may be in trouble all over again!

You have a Mac! It's easy. You have iPhoto. You can create a separate photo album in which you can add, sort, rearrange, and generally touch up photos. There's even a button where you can export the album directly to iWeb for creating a web page with LOTS of photos QUICKLY. You can upload the finished web page to anyplace (doesn't have to be .mac space). It's a Mac. It's not a PC running Windows or Linux. In the words of one of the people in my local Apple store, "It's like cheating."

Enjoy your trip!!!!!

Quite agree mathogre, but its not the tool, its the time. No matter what tool you use (Photoshop, iPhoto, whatever) you still have to plough through them all. We came back with over 300+ pictures, and time has been limited.

Actually, I don't like iPhoto's export feature. It limits you to 800x600 and imposes a viewer on you (please let me know if this is wrong! This has been my experience, and when I posted on it, I was told it was just a limitation of iPhoto). As a result, I prefer something like CocoViewX, which does a really nice clean export that you can then embed in a web page. Does any desired resizing, thumbnails, titling, the works. Very nice and very simple.

When I post my vacation pics, I will use it in its fairly vanilla form. I will mention it with the post, so folks can see what it's output looks like.

Makes much sense mac57. I can certainly grok the time factor! On iPhoto export, I think you're right that it's limited to 800x600. On CocoViewX, looks like I'll be examining this one over the weekend. Just looked at it, and it seems good. In any case, we look forward to your vacation pics when they're ready.

Enjoy your vacation!!!
