Odd problems with Copy & Paste.

I live in Michigan and my son lives in Switzerland and we both started having this odd problem with Copy & Paste on our iMacs.
Intermittently (enough to be maddening for me who does a lot of it) I Copy something but then can’t Paste it in my browser. However, it will paste in Text Edit, every time! It does this in both Google Chrome and Safari. The real odd part is, if I close the browser and reopen it I can then paste again for an undetermined amount of time before it flips out again?

Are you pasting into the URL box? If not, then where exactly?

I've had an issue pasting into a text box on a web page. It doesn't seem to like Returns, you know, spaces/blank lines between paragraphs. I've had to resort to pasting one paragraph at a time, stopping, just in case, before the last period, then adding the period after the paste.

If your problem is the first scenario above, then the issue seems to be with the browser. If it is the second scenario, that would seem to be an issue with the web page, and you might not be able to overcome it. Instead, it will take some creativity, and more time than it would if it just worked like pasting into TextEdit.
