No need to use anything extra, either a terminal command or utility, just check the general preferences of Apples major applications used for web browser and email, ie: Safari.app and Mail.app where the preferred default replacement application name can be added or changed in their Preferences.

Doesn't work for .webloc files. Apparently not since at least Sierra. Go ahead... replicate the OP's workflow and try changing it.
EDIT: I looked over your prior post and you are on Mavericks? You may not be affected. But to be extremely clear about this.... this problem is NOT solved by simply changing the default web browser.
