I'm running the current version of OS-X (Yosemite) and just noticed that after shutting down my iMAC vs putting it to SLEEP then after pressing the the POWER button to boot up my MAC I'm now getting one of those moving bars that appears under the APPLE logo, it moves left to right, at about the half way point it disappears and my iMAC boots normally.

Any clue what this is or where it came from? Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance

Unless I am misunderstanding what you're describing there isn't anything to worry about. That screen has been there since the public beta. I think it's a deliberate change on Apple's part.

We get this question a lot from folks who were used to the way OS X booted up before Yosemite. What you experienced is normal for Yosemite. No concerns.

Thanks for the quick responses. I seldom physically SHUT DOWN my iMAC so I only started noticing this after my recent Yosemite upgrade two weeks ago.

Again, thanks for putting me at ease.

Cheers

Tom
