Hi All

I have an old Tevion 1gig MP3 player that I used to use with my old windows machine. I would like (if possible) to be able to use this with my Mac. When I connect this to the Mac, it appears on my desktop but does not show up in the left hand column of iTunes. I have searched on here on how to enable this but no luck. I know it may be the case that this player might not work with the iMac, but I thought I would ask if anyone could help me try and get it recognised by the computer so I could download songs to it.
Do I need to format the MP3 player so that it works with Mac - and if so, how.

Any help much appreciated.

i think only apple products come up in the devices part of the itunes pane.

you can still put music on it from your iMac just drag and drop the files onto it from the finder window.

with the stuff bought off itunes (only applies to the 79p songs) they will only work on ipods. Apple is introducing DRM free music with the music company EMI so that will work on any mp3 player.

hope this helps.

Thanks Christm for your very speedy reply.

That explains why it wont show up in iTunes. However, when I select a track and drag it to my players icon on the desktop, it shows the process bar copying the track to the player. When I click on the icon on the desktop, it shows the song in my MP3 players memory - but when I disconnect the player and search its memory, it says "No MP3's stored".
I think I have dropped a bo**ock somewhere. Any clues?????

search for your player on the net and see if you can find any software that allows you to put songs on it. by dragging them on through finder you are using it in sort of "disk mode" as you would on an iPod. I had the same problem with my old iRiver player that I know use while snowboarding. songs would not show up, but were on the device so i did some searching and found the iriver software that allowed me to add music to the player... hope that helps!
