Hi, I'm trying to purchase an app from the app store using paypal on my ipad air 1. This is an option in the UK but when I get to payment details there is no option to use paypal, only several credit cards or none.

I've tried creating a new account with a new email to no avail. I've also tried contacting apple. They haven't responded. Any ideas what I can do? ;D

Assuming you're in the U.S. - look closer - Paypal is one of the CC options.

CC = Credit Card

p.s. The way your first post reads...makes it sound like you're from the UK...but not there currently (trying to access things from a different country). Thus the confusion.

On the iDevice itself, I only see credit card for Payment Types. On the Mac App Store, however, I do see Paypal as an option..

I'm from the UK trying to access while in the UK. I've tried both from the iPad itself and from online at the Mac app store. Neither have paypal as an option even though they should. There are only four credit card symbols, or the option to choose none.

For we aliens it is a credit card. When you set up an Apple ID surprised you were not asked for credit card details.

I gather that you're not seeing such an option as they show here:

And/or have you tried to access your account and details to setup or change the payment method — if the option even shows? :\

I managed to set up an apple ID with no CC by selecting the none option.

I don't see any paypal option as in that link. All I see is the CC options.

This is a screen grab -

Nor here. When I search for Paypal Option get the 'Your Search shows No Results'.

Try accessing your account from within iTunes and see if PP shows up there.

That was from within the App Store Tom. Don't use iTunes. I recall a thread, from TattooedMac if I am correct, where the App Store even wanted a US credit card.

@graeme

I could, of course, be wrong; but as far back as I can remember, there has never been a PayPal option for UK users either from an iDevice or via the App Store.

In fact, it is only in very recent times that PayPal has become a more frequent option for UK purchasers in general.

Hmmm…??? As per the URL I provided previously, just maybe… ;)

But not much help or accurate if the users can't even see the option — if it's actually there. Maybe hidden as Apple seems to like doing, even in their own software.

Yes, pm-r, I read your link which is in plain English and perfectly clear, but...

I've been into my account in iTunes. No luck there.

Right now, when I tried to access the Online Apple Store (UK), it breathlessly informed me that it is being updated. Probably just routine, but could this be what we are waiting for...?

All App Store sites seem to be in the process of being updated, and no surprise there considering Apple's announcements today.
