I recently installed Leopard using the free disk from Apple (as i brought my machine just before it was released)...

But as i've been so busy I haven't even noticed that there is no iLife on my computer!!!!!!! I am guessing that because I did a completely fresh install that the upgrade disk did not contain iLife :Grimmace:

Is there anything I can do?

Many thanks for any advice in advance

When my sister purchased her macbook the leopard upgrade disk came in the box along with ilife 08. The disc may be in the bundle. i didn't see the disk until i noticed that she didn't have ilife.

Look at your recovery disks under additional software.

Thank you for your advice, I cant seem to find the files anywhere on any of the disks..

So I was thinking that I could possibly do the following:

  • Erase and reinstall Tiger on my HD
  • Then perform the standard UPGRADE using the Leopard disk, therefore (hopefully) preserving iLife

Does this sound like a good idea?
If I do this, then would it be a good idea to perform all of the software updates to Tiger before I upgrade to Leopard, or is this unnecessary/bad?

Thanks again for your help!

Did you try what RMan suggested and insert the first DVD that came with your Mac and when it mounts on the desktop, look for Additional Software?

If you for sure can not find it, you can use the original DVD and install like it came out of the box, then I would do an Archive and Install to Leopard.

I tried doing what Rman said but it said that the install failed! Which is a little worrying in itself...

So I am thinking that installing it like it came out of the box ( OS X Tiger) is a good idea....
Why would you suggest an archive and install? Sorry if this i a bit of a dumb question.

Also, would you suggest that i perform all the software updates on the out-of-the-box OS, before I install Leopard?

Thanks again!

I just dug up my Intel Mac install DVD. When you put the DVD in the drive the folder comes up. Look and see if you have an icon that says Install Bundled Software Only. Try running that if it's there.

A lot of people had issues doing a plain upgrade to 10.5 from 10.4.

I tried that and clicked to customise - because i didn't want to install Front Row etc (already have them)... and it didn't work, came up saying:

Install Failed.
There was no software to install :|

... also iPhoto and iMovie were not on the list either!

Any suggestions?

Maybe the erase install option would be the best? What should I do?
