I recently found myself working on my devices way too late into the evening which resulted in sore eyes.
yes I know, bad decision!
I should have quit but was in middle of project and did not want to stop midstream.

I found that I could set iPhone and iPad to nighttime sunrise/sunset and could adjust the schedule after of course turning my locations on.
the lighting was much easier on the eyes.

when I tried to do the same on MBP...I could not edit the sunrise/sunset schedule...is there a way or just not available on MBP?

thnx jake
yes it is set at nightshift
location is set correctly and checked off
and so is time in my zone

all is a go except I wanted to set my own sunrise and sunset times as I could on iPhone and iPad.
will have to wait until tomorrow morning to see what time nightshift goes off.

if not possible, no big deal...I can set nightshift manually...if need be

On my MBP running Sierra, when I go to the Night Shift tab in Display, there is the "Schedule" drop-down which can be set to Custom to define what you deem sunset/sunrise is or choose "Sunset to Sunrise" which uses the location to do things automatically.

@lori

When you bring up the window as in your post, click here:

This will bring up the following options - select Custom.

And from there you get to choose what you want:
