new to this forum, new macbook pro connections

I just received my new mac book pro. I use mac for photography. I have a g-drive for backing up my photos. My g-drive has a thunderbolt 2 connection I believe.

My question is what are my best options for connecting my g-drive, I have already ordered an SD to USB c.

If what was mentioned is correct (computer has USB-c and G-Drive is Thunderbolt 2)...then you could use a USB-c to Thunderbolt 2 adapter:
