New Operating System

I already posted this in the powermac section, but just in case I'm sending it here too. I'm planning to get a new apple computer, but I know that panther will be coming out pretty soon. I've heard that if you get your new computer withing a month before the new operating system comes out, then, if you call apple, they will ship the new operating system to you for free. So, is this true, and also when will panther probably come out so I can take my chances with the new computer.

Panther will come out when it is good and ready, which is by the end of the year. Many think the end of this month.. I think thats accurate, though perhaps a bit later.

It could be true, however Apple has not announced any upgrade/free update plans for Panther at this point. You'll need to wait and see.

usually, you can get it free within 30 days of purchase, or for $20 within 90 days of purchase. but they could change, they havent posted anything yet. my guess is by the end of the month

All we can do is way. I don't think Apple want to go through the same mess of pricing like last time. So mostly Apple will wait on pricing also.

The only thing we know for sure, is that Panther has gone Golden Master. So how much time does it take to make a million copies? So the release date is coming. It is a coming
