Hello,
I took the plunge and got the Mac mini.
So far I'm somewhat disappointed with the difficulties in getting it set up but perhaps I can get some help with issues one by one?
Firstly;
The Mail programme downloaded over 10,000 emails from the servers. In the old Mail I used to able to select multiple emails by holding the mouse and scrolling, but now I can only delete one by one! Any ideas please?

Hold shift down and click on the first email, then scroll as far as you way and while holding the shift down again, click on the last email and the entire range should be selected..

If it was updated to latest version from App Store it will run on the new Mini and El Capitan. If not it will not but I find Photos if you really get used to it it a better application than iPhoto.

But it seems to be dummed down. It no longer gives the user control of the adjustments, only preset options.

You need to experiment some more with Photos. It is not "dumbed" down and actually does what the older iPhoto program was able to do. It's a matter of you learning how to use it, and besides, if you never updated your older iPhoto program to the latest, it will no longer be available to you from the app store.

Just curious here, but did you have a Mac you used before you got the mini and if so, why wasn't Migration Assistant used…??? :[

pm-r, I chose to organise and delete from the old mini, not to end up with junk on the new one.

Thanks chscag, exploring more and yes, if it was working I'd be happy.
For instance, if I open the adjust options and move the colour contrast slider, nothing is happening! the 'levels' slider is working, but none of the other adjust options are having any effect!

Fair enough. Keep using it and watch this very informative YouTube Video on "How to Use Photos". Let us know if you need more help with it. :)
