hi
my contract with 02 for my iphone 3G has expired a month ago and I'm due for an upgrade but i don't want to get an iphone 3G S and then the v4 comes out (by all accounts in June) and i'm stuck not being able to upgrade to a v4, like when the 3Gs came out and 02 wouldn't let us upgrade to it.

I'm getting impatient and my iphone is getting a bit old and cranky do i keep waiting for v 4 or get a 3GS and hope i can get a v4 somehow ????

Does anyone know anything concrete??

What would you do?

I would wait awhile. No one knows for sure when version 4 is going to be released but with all the rumors and reports abound, it shouldn't be that much longer.

Regards.

I say youve lived this long with your current iphone what a little longer. just pretend you don't have an upgrade waiting and wait it out. thats what i would do anyway. don't fix something that isnt broken.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head, you don't have to upgrade this very moment. Next iPhone should be out in 6-8 weeks, I'm sure you can hold out.

also, even if you were to go ahead and buy the 3gs now and try and sell it to buy the new iphone later. As soon as the new iphone comes out the 3gs will be at least $100 cheaper brand new than what you paid for yours (based on every other time they came out with a new phone, the old versions get cheaper). And you can't sell a used phone for brand new price so you could basically be paying over $100 to use that phone for a month and a half.

If you haven't seen this already, maybe you'd wanna take a look here. IT should be something like this. This was the "prototype" "found" at a bar when a guy from Apple lost it:

This Is Apple's Next iPhone

I'm in the exact same boat as you. My contract is up, I'm just waiting at this point. Be patient.

Yeah i;m in the same situation. My iPhone 3g is getting slower and slower. I keep needing to reset it.

Can wait for the iPhone 4g to come out. Should be officially announced next week!

No, the 4th Generation iPhone is expected, not a 4G iPhone. BIG difference...

As for your current phone, have you tried restoring the software and clearing out the texts chains? Since I started clearing my texts weekly my reset frequency has dropped from every day to every 4 or 5 days or more.

My contract was up, I was going to hold out for the new iphone but got the HTC Desire instead.

It was the fact that you can pick up a 32gb micro sd card for about £20 that swung it.

UPDATE
The 32gb micro sd card was £10.50
