Need help with Mac to Dell wireless network

I had sucessfully wirelessly linked my girlfriend's new dell laptop with my sort of new EMac desktop yesterday using my old Belkin USB ethernet wireless adapter. After I reset my Mac (not sure if it was the 1st time since I set up the wireless network or not) the network I set up no longer appears to be detected by either computer. I'm wondering what the deal is. I am not an experienced Mac user.
When it was working, the signal strength was pretty low. I used to use the same adapter to network two different PC's and it was strong in the whole house.
Please help. It's my girlfriend's new laptop, and she's freaking out because it doesn't work.
