Many thanks, it works.

There are two ways. The command line way is to do the what's stated in the above post to list the permissions and then you would use 'chmod' to change permissions. Do a 'man chmod' to see what the syntax should be. The other way is through Finder. Go to the folder, select the file and then hit CMD+i to get info. The permissions of the file are at the bottom and you can change it as you see fit.
