multiple printers

is there a way to set certain printers to certain file types?

I have multiple printers for different jobs and would like it so that I do not have to keep selecting the correct printer from the drop down
this is possible on windows, is it on Mac?

I don't know how it works with the latest Windows versions but for macOS you choose a default printer and that's the one which will display when you select print. I too have several printers and do not find it inconvenient to choose from the drop down menu the one I wish to print with.
