I am moving on from my 2008 iMac and am looking the newest 27 inch version. What is already on board and what would you recommend I buy?
An impossible question?

Depends on what you do with it and what your budget is. Looks like you keep them awhile so it might be good to max it out to the level your checkbook can stand.

My personal feelings are unless you do a bunch of photo work I am not convinced the Retina is worth the extra $$$. But it sure is pretty!

As Lisa says it is up to you. Personally can't do without Office 2011, a new version is to be released later in the year. Anything else such as printers etc can be transferred.

Hey Harry, I downloaded an update for the Office 2016 Preview yesterday. Not sure what it fixed or added, MS never said what it contained. So far the Preview looks good but there's a lot of eye candy missing. Also noticed how closely it now resembles Windows Office 2013, especially the Ribbon layout.

Have used it for a week Charlie and whilst it seems solid agree about the dressing ups, and a lot of folk have complained about not having Ribbon of late.

Many thanks to all of you for your words of wisdom. I tend to buy the manual first (the one that wasn't in the box) and then decide whether I like what Mr Pogue likes, before going out and buying the real thing. Thanks again. You're an encouraging bunch!
