Can my programs and files transfer to another Mac Pro Desktop that is operating with Lion? My original Mac Pro is currently using Snow Leopard with the newer one using Lion. I plan to make the transfers using the firewire 800 to each machine.

Files, yes, they will just come over without any problems. Programs is a different story depending on what they are. Snow Leopard was the last version of OS X that had support for the PowerPC processor. Starting with Lion, you could no longer use Universal Apps. So if your programs were either Universal or PowerPC based, they will not work anymore.

So you might want to detail the apps that you have currently on your Snow Leopard Mac and we can tell you better.

Also, you should use Migration Assistant to make it easy to copy the files around..

Thanks for the very quick reply to my question, I will now consider how to make the move.
