Attention All Cable Users:

Don't get a Motorola Surfboard cable modem. Even if they give it to you free. I had heard complaints about it before, but since mine worked i shrugged it off.

But now im back at 3mb/s, and no motorola surfboard in sight.

Well I guess I'm not totally surprised. The Motorola cable box I use has been good, but it's my second one and my friends have had reliability problems too

I'm currently using a Terayon. not sure of the model type.

i was getting 3mb/s. then one day it didnt connect, and after opening it up, and taking out/putting back in the battery to reset the memory, it only connected me at 200kb/s. then it also no longer set a strong enough signal to my router to support my 16 port switch... but all is well now.

I've had a motorola surfboard cable modem from road runner for over 4.5 years now and haven't had a single problem. What cable provider are you getting 3mb/s speeds from???? that's like 12 times faster than average.....unless you meant 3mbps (bits not bytes) which is more reasonable.
