Mighty Mouse conundrum

I've just noticed this and it's really weird.

You can't right click if your index finger is resting (not pressing) on the left mouse button. As soon as you lift your index finger up, it works.

How does that work?

There are two touch sensors under the plastic casing.

These sensors are laid out in such a manner that when skin contacts the plastic above them, an electrical connection is made and is registered on the logic chip as completed circuit. This lets Apple send each contact to either side as an independent button event without adding additional mechanical hardware.

I wanted one bad cuz they look cool and I thought I'd try one. Then I started looking around for opinions. For every good experience I found three that were less than complementary.

For instance the one that got me the most was the scroll ball...people complained constantly that it stops working with the solution being to "clean" it every week or in some cases every other day. Yikes. Don't want that kind of hassle. PLus the sensitivity of the right click seems to be some sort of cult thing to understand and work properly.

Anyway, I got one for Christmas but was so disillusioned I just returned it without opening. Using it in the store is one thing. Using it when it counts is another.

Not saying that it won't work but for me I just don't need that kind of hassle.

Wow, I was quite impressed how it's the skin creating a circuit that stops the right button working.

It's instinctive to lift your index finger up though, which is why I never noticed until today (5 months later).

I really like the Mighty Mouse. I cleaned the scroll wheel after 4 months (8 hours a day, 5 days a week), so it doesn't seem too big an issue.

If you play some FPS games, you can't play with a mighty mouse. In Call Of Duty, you have to hold both buttons to cook a gernade, and thats very impossible to do with a mighty mouse. So I had to switch once I found that out.

I have no experience with games and the mighty mouse however I really like it/them, I have two a wireless ( I use with my MacBook) and a wired one for the iMac.

Both have functioned very well and yes you must clean them once in awhile, I clean mine about as often as I clean my screens.

Can't you just remap to a key? I've always pressed G in COD on PC.

I like to use the mouse for all firing needs. That way my other hand can concentrate on movement.
